Rescue & Treatment
This segment of our work includes rescue, treatment and rehabilitation of injured and unwell stray animals. India has a massive stray animal population of around 40 million which are neglected and denied the basic right to live. They suffer from injuries & traumas, quite frequently a direct consequence of human actions, starvation making them being prone to illness and diseases and lack of access to basic medical care to counter these situations. Our purpose is trying to reduce their pain and suffering by providing essential medical care to these animals who are most in need. In addition we also rescue, foster and then release any other farm / forest animals which need our care. Since they are unable to ask on their own for help, we believe it is our responsibility to help them in this state of distress.
Animal Shelter
We have set up a shelter for animals unable to survive on the street on their own. In many of the above cases the animals are unable to go back on the street because of old age, serious injury, disability or other issues. Such animals are also less likely to get adopted as most people generally look for young and healthy animals to adopt. We have created a space where we will be providing a permanent home to these animals to live out the rest of their life in peace and dignity.
Animal Birth Control and Vaccination Programme
According to the World Health Organization, sterilisation through neutering & spaying is the only effective and humane way to control stray animal population. Anti-rabies vaccination administered during ABC sterilization further ensures minimal cases of dog bites and related rabies cases in dogs and humans. Our aim is to not only sterilize the animals but also vaccinate them with the relevant vaccines like anti-rabies and multi-antigen vaccines for fatal diseases such as canine parvovirus, canine distemper, hepatitis, para-influenza, adeno-virus and leptospirosis.
Stray Animal Feeding Programme
A vast majority of street animals depend on indirect human sources of food like restaurant leftovers, food wastes, food from trash cans and bins etc. Such food sources are unreliable at best and unfit for consumption at worst. In our work with animals, we have seen that malnutrition and deficiencies exposes the animals to diseases, disabilities and even fatalities in cases of maggot wounds & musculoskeletal injuries from accidents. Dehydration is another major cause of delayed recoveries. Our aim would be to provide good food & nutrition with added supplements to boost their immunity and help their body to fight the disease and heal better. As a collateral benefit it also creates an animal population that is human-friendly and reduces the incidence of man-animal conflicts.
