Soplica was found when a rescue call came about a dog with maggot infested front paw. She couldn’t be found for 2 days, despite repeated searching, and it was finally on the 3rd day that she was found hiding behind a hoarding in very bad shape.
She had severe skin infection, open festering wounds and on the verge of losing consciousness. When she was taken for treatment her temperature was found to be 94/95 degree Celsius (5 degrees below normal, a state from which it is near impossible for the animal to recover). She was given first aid and stabilized in the hope that she would survive the night. It was even considered to put her down given the bad shape she was in, but our gut feeling said no.
Post the 2nd day treatment her temperature started to stabilize and we saw the spark of life in her. It took 3 months for her to recover, for her wounds to heal and skin to come back. Her front paw had been completely eaten by maggots and a small part of it had to be amputated.
Today she is a beautiful girl, full of energy and the desire to explore, with the loveliest most gentle eyes.
